Hey Miranda, thank you for your very interesting and insightful writing here and on twitter. I started wondering about something: we see very much of vocal groups of trans women demanding access to womens bodies and spaces, yet we hardly ever see this from trans men. We don’t really see them demanding access to men’s bodies or spaces, and there is no threats of violence if their demands are not met (that I have seen at least). Do you perhaps have any insight into why that might be?

Boiling it down: if the argument is that gender is an oppressive social construct, isn’t ‘women born women’ completely contrary to that idea? If, after all, people aren’t born with gender, and ‘woman’ is a negative stereotype forced on people, then ‘women born women’ should be antithetical to those ideas.

How can ‘cis’ be inappropriate if you use the word ‘trans’? Imagine someone on the Jordan side of the Jordan river called the other side the Transjordan region (and they do call it that) but said that calling their side cisjordan was somehow “inappropriate.” If Latin applies to one group of people, why not another?
