TERFs be like “transwomen degrade what being a woman is because they reduce womanhood to simply having a vagina” like nah mate, transwomen have always been women you’re just a piece of shit.
And I get it, I can’t really say as a transman that another woman “feminists” wrong, but I do have the…
Trans women have not “always been women.” Calling people pieces of shit will not change that fact.
Trans women are born male, raised as boys, and many (most?) trans women have careers as men, raise families as men, and generally enjoy the fruits of being male in an oppressive society.
Please stop spreading the lie that trans women have always been female. Truth may sting, but it’s not transphobic.
Transwomen are women and transmen are men. TERFs harp on the fact that “a vagina doesn’t define a woman”; in effect, by use that statement, they nullify their claims and support the idea that gender is not a bodily function. At all.
That’s the way the cookie crumbles. If you don’t like the fact that trans brains don’t match the body, then you’re a piece of shit. There’s no arguing about that.
I’m a little surprised that a tumblog dedicated to queer issues would support such a vile claim that trans women are men based on the fact they have a penis.
It’s sad to see so many transwomen buy into the shit transphobic feminists say and hate themselves because of that. Transwomen have the brain of a woman in the body of a man. Literally. To say anything exclusionary based off of their gender is myopically misogynistic and discriminatory against them based off of that particular gender, perpetuating the same exact ideals that the cishet patriarchy is lmao. You’re “literally feeding the fire.
It’s amusing to see how blinded people are by their pride fall victim to same clever oppressive techniques they want to stop. Essentially making the biggest jerk circle I’ve ever seen.
I don’t know if this post is directed at the terfisaslur blog or mine, especially because you mention a ‘blog dedicated to queer issues’ (any long term followers will know this my blog is more Russian Roulette between things I enjoyed as a child, things I enjoy now, gifs of cats doing funny things and SURPRISE TRANS SEPARATISM). But in any case, since it was reblogged from me I’ll respond.
You’re making a confusing and illogical leap between the fact that “trans women were raised as boys and many enjoyed the privileges of life as an adult male in some way before transition” and strawmanning to make it out to say “trans women are men.”
You’re also making a wild, misogynistic claim that males and females have different brains, and that trans people fall within those categories. If you could show your evidence for that, it’d be splendid. Asserting it as a fact, and acting as though it is one, is not the same as actually proving that to be the case.
How is it misogynistic to say that transgender brains are structurally identical to their identified gender and not their native sex?
OP made it very clear that transwomen live as men. I wasn’t pulling information that wasn’t already presented. Insinuating that transwomen (blanket statement) live as such and benefit from the oppression of cis females is to insinuate that they are men, not the gender they represent.
Taking a group and separating them from a whole they identify with and telling them “you can’t sit with us” is discriminatory and transphobic.
It’s been proven by side-by-side MRI/CAT image comparisons that male brains are larger in size than female brains. However, you jump to the extreme conclusion that this automatically means their brains are more efficient and better at getting the job done. A bigger brain =/= higher IQ or better critical thinking skills. A bigger brain actually doesn’t mean anything. At all.
What makes a person more intelligent is not a bigger brain, but more neuron connections and better communication between them, which is based on genetics and not gender or sex. That’s just what I’ve been told by my neurologist who has 30+ years of experience at the subject at hand.
If you need more information or links, there’s this wonderful thing called a search engine.
I recommend google.
Educate yourself, I’m not here to do your homework for you.
“It’s not my job to educate you, even though I’m the one making unsupported claims”
This is poor technique for a discussion. I didn’t make the claim, and therefore burden of proof is not on me. Just because you were told it by someone doesn’t mean it’s true, and doesn’t mean I have to believe you, because simply put I have no reason to. What I’m doing right now is questioning you on statements you’ve made. It isn’t my homework I’m trying to get you to do, it’s your own.
OPs claim was that trans women have had at least some experiences in their lives as men. Whether that was their childhood, their education or their careers, the socialisation which occurred up to the point they transitioned was based on how society interpreted their gender, which is informed by one’s presentation. And so, they were treated with the positive bias that men get under the patriarchy. They benefitted from that until the point of transition.
Your post gives the game away. As you put it, “A bigger brain doesn’t actually mean anything. At all.” So why are you arguing that it magically proves I’m truly female and have been since birth? Why are you calling me transphobic for denying that based on my understanding of social structures and how interacting with other people actually works?
It’s not my job to educate you. I already fixate myself on reading scholarly articles on transgender issues and the neuroscience behind gender in that these are things that directly affect me. I shouldn’t have to take it upon myself spoon feed you information that you could, very easily and painlessly, find on your own time.
It’s you who must take it upon yourself to research things. If I can do it, it can’t be that difficult.
Again, I call you transphobic because you regard transwomen as more man than woman. You completely missed this point multiple times.
I can’t really argue with a person who’s bent on oppressing people who already are extremely oppressed and disregarded for who they are based on their gender. Bigotry that runs that deep is something that can’t be fixed with reason or compassion.
Seriously, listen to yourself. You sound as bad as the white cishet Christian men who support the white cishet patriarchy we live.
I truly hope you learn how much of a bigot you are and change your perspective. But I guess you can’t fix stupid. Goodbye.
And this, my friends, why transgender activism is something I regard as toxic, abusive and awful.
I asked for resources. Instead I got abuse. I pointed out facts. I got called “transphobic.” I asked questions. I got called “a bigot.”
“I guess you can’t fix stupid.”
Indeed.
